Celebrating Adaptive Reuse, Circularity & Collaboration Across North Carolina

In October 2025, sustainability leaders, B Corps, and purpose-driven businesses from across NC came together for our Adaptive Reuse Tour & Sustainably Sourced Lunch, hosted by our Charlotte B Corp Collective, B Local NC Triangle, and B Local Asheville. This marked our first statewide B Local gathering in North Carolina.

Together, we explored how innovation, community, and creativity can transform both business and places for good. Some of our favorite moments included:

Camp North End
Once a Ford Motor Company factory and WWII Army depot, Camp North End now stands as one of Charlotte’s most celebrated adaptive reuse projects. We learned how this 76-acre site has been reimagined into a vibrant, sustainable hub, preserving history while creating new pathways for small businesses and community gathering. Tesho Akindele from ATCO shared how intentional design can reconnect neighborhoods that were once divided by fences and forgotten industrial zones.

Springclean
Founder CT Anderson demonstrated how circular fashion is redefining waste by repurposing textiles into new products, creating jobs, and teaching fine tailoring skills to uplift our community. Through their 5R framework (Reuse, Rental, Repair, Renew, Recycle), SpringClean is showing how creativity and equity can reshape the future of fashion. Several attendees left with one-of-a-kind pieces from their circular boutique.

Free Range Brewing
Co-founder Jason Alexander and his wife Sarah Alexander welcomed us into their community-driven brewery where over 90% of ingredients are sourced locally for their craft beers. From reclaimed Ford factory beams in the ceiling to a special tasting of “Susie Was a Real Peach,” a 99% local Carolina Grissette made with peaches from Davis & Son Orchard, we experienced how sustainability and craft go hand in hand. Free Range also helped to compost our lunch waste afterward with Crown Town Compost, closing the loop in true circularity.

We ended the day with a seasonal, plant-based lunch from Soul Miner’s Garden, a Charlotte-based, woman-owned business dedicated to good food and a better planet. Demonstrating how thoughtful food choices can support both local farmers and a healthy community.

A heartfelt Thank You to those who made this day possible.
